Maria Cristina Montiel was born on April 7th, 1979 from parents of Nicaraguan American backgrounds. She grew up in Miami Florida and began playing guitar at the age of 7. She played in local coffee shops in her hometown by the time she was 15. She moved to New York City at 18 and in 1998, she made a cassette demo which go ther a few gigs at Sidewalk Cafe, CB’s Gallery, and  Baggot Inn in New York City’s East Village; where she was attending Parsons School of Design for her BFA in Photography. In 2008 she recorded but never released “Ra” an 8 track acoustic album recorded in her studio in Easton, PA. You can now listen to it here. A series of 8 landscape photographs were released in concert with the album Ra and will become available for sale on various POD products in our shop.
